Here we go again

Running again. This time with my mentee. I gotta work on my speed he on his endurance, together we should hit both our goals.
So our schedule is Tuesdays Wednesday and Thursdays 8 Miles with pace variation. Sat and Sunday are speedwork longer runs and tempo runs.
6AM round the lakes (Calhoun and Harriet) before most of the world has walked to the restroom we will have gotten our run in. Stop by and say hi, Im the one with the black running tights, and hes the lanky kid normally just a step ahead of me

Why do we fall ... Master Bruce

So that we can get up and run again ... Glen.
DISAPPOINTED. Thats all I can say. I guess I didnt respect the marathon enough. Well heres what happened. I started out pretty good at 7:38 pace - well on pace to make my 3:20 goal. Somewhere around mile 9 things started to go very wrong. I started slowing down and couldnt seem to to get on anyones pace again - just a classic bonk. DAMN DAMN DAMN
On the bright side, no physical injuries and I should be able to start running again next week.
Looks like my failure inspired my mentee and he has decided to run the next marathon with me. So come October we will be doing the Twin Cities Marathon together.

All set for Grandmas

Clothes packed and shoes ready for the big day. I should be driving up to Duluth pretty soon. Ive been carbo loading like hell and still losing weight. But ive never felt this ready. Well Ive just gotta go out there and give it my all ..........

Tick Tick ... The Clock is ticking

A friend of mine said if you arent prepared now you will never be. Well with one week to go to Grandmas I guess he right. Went out and did my final 8 miler today, never felt better. Now just gotta translate this into a good run in the marathon. I just got to make sure I keep with the Clif pace team and I should be OK.
My mentees family said they'd be in Duluth to see me finish. Its always nice to have someone you know at the end, cause you can be kinda disoriented. So that should be fine.
I start school with 2 evening classes next week so thats another ball to juggle. Should be easy to handle, cause I will probably take a little off my training, work on speed with my mentee and focus on getting stronger

Taper Taper Taper

I love taper. Eat as much as you want and you dont have to do any more long runs. The 20 Miler last week sure was good. This weeks runs were a lot nicer. Signed up for the Clif Bar Pace team. Plan to do the 3:20 team. I only hope I can keep the pace right through. I know I can do it for an easy 15 M its going to have to be seen if I can maintain it through.
My fundraising has slown down a bit. Hope to get some of my colleagues to sign up to donate soon. Lets hope they see the benefits of the money they contribute
Ran a 5K today, my fastest. It sure is a completely different race. Still have to plan a good race. I think I can hit 18 mins if I plan it well. But that for after Grandmas
